Dan wanted to go to Munich for the Starkbeirfest (Strong Beer). So we went for the weekend!
Different neighborhoods around Munich each have their own maypole.
The maypole has icons for what is in that neighborhood on it.
I'm really not sure what is going on here, but it reminds me of the Nutcracker.

Dan was sad because his pickle is sweet. Dan does not like sweet pickles.
We, of course, climbed the bell tower of Old St. Peter's. Views from the top:

A cherub fighting the Rooster of Plague. It's one of the four great biblical enemies of civilization. The other three (on the other three corners) are the Dragon of War, the Lion of Hunger, and the Serpent of Heresy (or Protestants).

Onto the Asam Church!
The Asam Church was built in 1740 by the Asam brothers, Cosmas and Egid. This church basically served as a showroom. This is where they showed off their work to potential customers.

I don't know what this statue is for/representing, but it seems to perfectly reflect the annoyance at being covered in pigeons and pigeon poop. Even the horse looks miffed.
The famous Hofbräuhaus!
The original brewery was built here in 1583. In the late 1800's the brewery moved out and the beer hall was created. It was heavily bombed and therefore destroyed during World War II. It was one of the first places rebuilt after the war.

An impressive building in the park (Hofgarten) behind the Residenz (Bavarian Wittelsbach Palace).
Off to the Englischer Garten (English Garden):
It is one of the world's largest urban parks.
It has neat geese/duck type birds.
It has picturesque rivers.
It has surfers.
......Surfers?
It totally has surfers. Surfing is apparently illegal, but no one stops them.
