It's not like 4:47 in the morning or anything.  At least the clouds went away.

Oktoberfest Day 3 - And another Beer

September 27th

This morning, our last day of Oktoberfest, we headed down to the fairgrounds and discovered that no one else was awake/recovered yet.  So we wandered around and into a few tents just to see what they looked like.

Signs to tell you were the beer is.

Revisiting the weird rollercoaster type ride we went on on Friday night.  

Turns out there's a giant scary Moses out front.

It's a gingerbread castle thing (it's a restaurant).

This tent only serves wine.

They weren't serving yet.

But the tent was very pretty.

The next tent we went into was Löwenbräu. 

Ever wonder how they have SOOOO MANY steins?  Super power wash and dry, that's how!

Also this sign, which I think is telling us only apes dance on the tables.

Would have been nice to have known that Friday night.  Ooops.

There was a band on the hill!

And a cart full of beer casks!

AAAAAAAHHH! Headless horse!

Oh, just kidding.  There's its head, and its weird ear....hat....thing....

Off to the Hacker-Pschorr tent!

This was not beer cheese.  It was still good, but it was not beer cheese.

We weren't sure what the flag was for.

The band came in!  Ooompa!  Ooompa!

All the beers again!  I don't know any of these people.

We had to leave to catch our flight home, so I will leave you with this guy, who thinks he's conducting the oompa band.

Oktoberfest Day 2 - Recovery and Shenanigans Part 2

September 26th

We had a slow start to the morning today.  For no particular reason.....

We started out by going to the Munich Science Museum.

These guys were trying to figure out the sundial.

It turns out this museum is MASSIVE.  We started with the Power Machinery.
It starts with Muscle Machinery and progresses up through Catalytic Converters.

It covers muscle, water, wind, and steam power machines.

I think this is the history of steam power, either way someone got their wig blown off.

We passed through the history of Shipping/Sailing and wandered into the history of Aviation.

This airplane has a weird face.

This is a turboluftstrahltriebwerk.....or something. I mean it's a turbine; I know that.

We did quick trip through Space on our way to the history of Printing.

Dan is convinced that whatever the astronaut is holding is a random prop some poor intern got told to make.  "We need something sciency! Go glue an antenna on a coffee can!"

We left Printing and headed to Technological Toys.

This is a Laufroboter.  It bots laufros.

I wanted to find something called the Sundial Garden.  So up the stairs!

And then there was the.....I don't remember what this part was, but there were lots of gadgets.  I left Dan in the hall of gadgets to wander through Geodesy to get to the Sundial Garden.

In order from back to front a sundial for Italic and Babylonic times, for Sidereal time, for Altitude, Azimuth, and the sign of the Zodiac, and for Universal time and Temporal hours.

Around this time we had all had enough and decided to go find lunch and maybe take a nap.

We found a crazy science experiment going on when we were leaving.

This restaurant tried to be outside while you were inside.

We walked a bit through downtown on our way back to our hotels.

A billboard thing for Inside Out.  Fun fact,  the German word Kummerspeck translates to "grief bacon".  It's the weight you put on when you eat your sorrow.

We changed, probably napped a bit, and headed out to an Escape Game.

We succeeded but it was not my favorite room that we've done so far.

After the escape we headed back to the Oktoberfest fairgrounds.

Where we found the line of people who had already done themselves in.

SOOOOO many people!  Turns out Saturday evening at Oktoberfest is packed.  

All the tents were closed, so we went with Plan B and went downtown to the Hofbräuhaus.

Amusingly enough we were surrounded by Italians at Hofbräuhaus. 

 Beer vision perhaps....?

After lots of sausages, pretzels, some other food, and of course beers we called it a day.

This time they were paying attention.

I finally got an Oktoberfest cookie!  And....I promptly ate it.  It was okay.  

I asked when buying it, just to be sure, that they were edible and not just decorative.
