Whale Watching

April 10th

 I went on a whale watching trip today.

 It started out with this otter.

 He rolled around a lot.

I choose to believe that this boat belongs to that sea lion.  

It's flying the Kanaka Maoli flag of Hawaii.

 Blorp.

 Sea lion pile under the dock.

 This sea lion has a seagull escort.  I bet they're picking a boat to buy.

 The Coast Guard pier is the preferred spot for hundreds of sea lions.

There isn't enough room, so some are in the the water.  

The ones in the water are raising their flippers to stay warm.

 Arp! Arp! Arp!....or a yawn.

 Onto the whales!

 I think these are Grey Whale humps.  

  A Humpback whale!

 A two-fer, the black blob on the far right and one towards the left.  I think both Grey whales.

When we pulled back into the marina these seals were hanging out.

 It's soooooo round!

Point Lobos

April 9th

 Today we took our friend Krazi to Point Lobos.

 It's a beautiful state park. 

 We took the trail around Whaler's Cove.

 We had a lovely day, though slightly chilly, for walking around.

 We looked for otters, but didn't see any.

 Surf breaking up on the rocks.  The water was pretty calm today.

 There are some neat coastlines around here.

 I think they are humpbacks.

 And then I found this caterpillar.  I have no idea what it is or what it becomes. 

It was a nice way to spend the morning.

Cayman Islands Day 8 - Going Home

April 1st

 It wasn't a joke.  We had to leave.  I was very sad.

 Bye Grand Cayman!

At some point the sky and sea became the same.

 Some other islands....somewhere...actually this may be the Florida Keys.

It was a great trip, and I really could have spent more time with Jenny.  I miss her already.

Cayman Islands Day 7 - Hell and Turtles

March 31st

Today, we visited Hell.

Hell is a limestone formation.

We went to Hell!

Apparently Dan is a devil and I'm an angel.

Dan took this same photo about 9 years ago.

Next up, we went to the Turtle Center.

Sharks!  The Turtle Center has animals other than turtles.

These are Nurse Sharks.

It was food time.

Small-ish Green Sea Turtle.

Turtles are very flappy.

Iguana!

Jim and Dan got to hold turtles.

The Turtle Center is a tourist attraction as well as a Research & Conservation center.

Green iguanas are invasive and a problem.

Om nom nom!

I'd be Michelangelo...I think.  Dan says he'd be Donatello.

We went on the nature trail, which may have been a mistake.  It was very hot.

Chickens!

Tourist Tree, because it turns red and peels like tourists.

This one looks....bluish.

Blue Iguanas are native to the Cayman Islands, but other iguanas are a problem. 

Onto the aviaries!   And a weird...hibiscus?

White-Crowned Pigeons.

Coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine.  

Bee!! And little purple flowers.

Maybe an Iris.

Little Saffron Finches in the tree.

We got bird feed so I could be a Disney princess.

The pigeons liked me the best.  Go figure.

In the evening we hung out with Jenny and her family.  

Jenny got to meet her traveling Lego mini-figurine.

I am very sad we are leaving tomorrow.  

Maybe since it's April 1st, Dan will tell me it's a joke and I don't have to leave.
