It's that time again. Time for us to have all our stuff packed up and hauled away. But first, Dan lost a contest.
Our friend Josh has been living with us since January. His wife, my friend Nicole, took the kids and moved to their next duty station to get them settled and squared away with school. Josh needed a place to live while he finished out his last quarter at NPS. We offered our guest room.
Anyway, as time went on, we had a roommate challenge to get rid of the most food items as possible before our pack out. Regular use items like milk and bread didn't count. This was things like cans of beans or whatever you always have leftover when you move. So the prize was that the winner got to chose a restaurant and their meal. The second place person got to chose their meal AND the last place person's meal. So the last place person neither got to chose the restaurant or their food. Dan lost, and as such, we got him a Wedge Salad - a thing he hates.
Tungsten is not excited about moving day.
There was one day of packing boxes and one day of loading the truck.
So many boxes of things!
I wanted to build a fort, but it was already hard to move around the house.
Our truck loaders were not willing to unhook the washing machine in case there was an issue.
There was an issue. The cold water valve turned out to be broken and we couldn't shut it off.
Dan says I'm not allowed to only record the good times.
Although we laughed quite a bit about this after the initial damage control.
We didn't know where the water shut off valve was, so we tried all the valve like things we could find. We eventually found it.
We were mopping with towels and then wringing out the towels in the yard.
We kept doing damage control until maintenance could come deal with the broken valve.
Walls are supposed to bubble....right?
That's our truck and our stuff. The driver and movers were really great.
Tantalum also does not like pack out day. There are people and they are not paying attention to her.
Aside from the cold water valve being broken, things actually went pretty well. We almost forgot to pack the walk-in closet bookshelves, but that was a pretty quick fix. The driver, Matt, gave me his cell number so I'd be able to check in with where he was and when he thought he'd deliver our stuff.
This concludes our adventures for today.
