We went to the best thing ever this morning - Italia in Miniatura!
"Made Italy, Begin your visit here."
Italia in Miniatura is just that. It's a sort of scale model of Italy and its famous sites. Plus some random sites in Europe and a bit of an amusement park. We started at the "toe" and worked our way up and around Italy.
It figures that in the Souther Italy the police car is being towed.
This is the city of Cosenza.
This is Christ the Redeemer in Maratea on Moutain Saint Biagio.
These are the Basilica and Temple of Neptune from Paestum. We were there!
This is Pompeii! We were there!
A quick jog over to the "heel" gets us to the Trulli houses of Alberobello. We were there!
And now to Naples. This is the Piazza del Plebiscito. We were there!
Dan was pleased there were little submarines in the harbor.
This is the Castle Nuovo in Naples.
Caserta Palace. We were there!
Up to Rome! Here's the Colosseum. We were there!
(This also covers the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps because they're coming up next.)
Trevi Fountain.
The Spanish Steps.
Vatican City. I was there!
Dan finally gets to go to Vatican City.
Marmore Falls. We were there, with Tantalum!
Up to Sienna and Piazza del Campo. We were there!
We found Pisa. We were there!
I also went with Michael & Sam.
A trip to the east gets us to Florence's Il Duomo. We were there!
Palazzo Vecchio. We were there!
We're now onto Northern Italy.
The monument to San Carlo Borromeo.
The Milan Il Duomo. I saw this made out of Legos once too, but never in real life.
It's Venice! We were there!
We found Rimini. I was a little sad there wasn't a tiny Italia in Miniatura in there.
We are currently there!
This is the Piazza de Libertá and the Torre della Gualta.
Verona.
The Verona Area. Apparently they do spectacular things there.
And up into the Alps!
It was a pretty fun/funny little park.
Proof I was there.
There was a section for attractions from Europe.
"Welcome to Little Europe"
This is Chillon Castle in Switzerland. We were there!
St. Patrick's Rock in Tipperary Ireland.
The Little Mermaid from Copenhagen. This was true to size. We were sort of there.
Wisteria Lane, but with less drama. (Desperate Housewives reference)
Dan and I finally got to go on a "gondola" ride around "Venice":
Huh, Venice is shorter than I remember....
San Marco is definitely less crowded.
From the toes up.
And from the Alps down.
This guy was in Pappamondo, or Bird Paradise - a random side attraction.
Also in Pappamondo was this GIANT white koi fish.
We also went on some of the rides. Proof that Ryan and Heather were with us.
I got dizzy trying to take these photos.
On the way out we found the Italian Islands. This is Nuragico on Sardinia.
I don't remember if this one is Ischia or Capri. I think...Capri. I was there.
Dan thinks he found Naples again.
We grabbed a sandwich at the food court and headed back to the hotel. Later we went and hung out at the beach. There was some confusion as to how we got an umbrella spot, but we finally figured it out. The water was pleasantly warm. It was a good afternoon.
In the evening we wandered out to explore. We found some live music outside of this church.
The next morning we got up and drove back home.
It was a really fun weekend with Ryan and Heather.
This concludes our adventures for today.
