Because we have inhouse babysitters right now, Dan and I wandered off on a weekend away. We went to a thermal spa hotel outside of Viterbo in Terme.
We stayed at Hotel Salus Terme. There were many different spaces in the spa. There was an "Etruscan Cave" where you could sit in steam. There was a reading room, a relaxing room, a napping room, several saunas, various thermal pools, and an emotional and chromatic shower - their words, not mine.
I cannot find the pamphlet that had a map and descriptions. I'm bummed about this because some of the descriptions were pretty entertaining.
The weather happened to be almost perfect. It was cool outside of the water, but that made being in the water so much better.
The restaurant was mediocre, but it had these interesting steampunk-cthulu-zoidberg style doors.
In the evening we went to explore Viterbo and have dinner. It was pretty with all the Christmas light. We happened to find a small market where I bought a wreath for our door at home.
We also found this guy, doing...whatever it is he's doing.
Has this artist ever seen a lion? Probably not...
This piazza had a skating rink!
This poor lion has lost its face.
Lions under the lights!
To the left, they had rotating performances. At one point it was a reading, at another, a quartet.
Derpy window display owl!
We were there! We wandered around for a bit waiting for our restaurant to open.
Most restaurants don't open for dinner service before 1930 (7:30 pm.)
Oh hey, it's this guy again.
GIANT ornament!
Next door to dinner was an escape room. We succeeded, despite everything being in Italian. Don't be too impressed, had it all been in English it would have been done in 20 minutes.
Lots of lions in this town. This doorknocker makes me feel like someone kind of knew what a lion looked like, but then had to make it a doorknocker.
On our way back to the car we passed a silent....dance group? exercise class? something...
